FAQ's of Membership
We figured you might have some questions about this whole new “(re)founding membership” program. Read on for all the good stuff!
As we launch “membership” for the first time, we believe it’s building a new foundation for Climbers for Christ (hence the “re-founding” lingo!). This allows us to strengthen our existing ministry in the U.S. and build for true global growth. We’ve heard from y’all that moving from a network-style community to a full-fledged, equipping mission organization is what you’re looking for! We want to provide mentorship, training, and tools that support climbers in both living and sharing their faith in Christ with the climbing community.
Membership funds will sustain CFC *and* help us develop tools, resources & training for our community. Your membership will help us “re-found” this community so that we can live out Jesus’ commission in the global climbing community – Thank you!
Donations received through the membership program will go towards our “General Fund,” which sustains the ongoing operational and outreach efforts of the ministry. These funds will be used to fuel the growing priority of mentoring & discipling our community with tangible resources and increased staff support.
Definitely not!
Our community is for anyone who loves climbing and is somewhere in their journey regarding Jesus.
This “Membership” is just one of the ways that climbers (or friends of climbers who are stoked on our mission!) can help support the ongoing work and development of Climbers for Christ as we work to live the love of Jesus in the climbing community.
Absolutely! Donations and recurring gifts are the literal bread-and-butter of how we’ve sustained this ministry for 35 years and we’d love for folks to continue to support the ministry with donations, tithes & membership as they feel led. Head to https://climbersforchrist.org/give/ to donate.
Yes! And that support is vital to the ongoing work of Climbers for Christ. Membership funds help sustain the behind the scenes work and creating resources, while donations to events & outreaches go directly to serving climbers and sharing life and Jesus with climbers. Our local leaders and chapters rely on community support to fund these events, you can specify funds for events at climbersforchrist.org/give (choose “Events” from the Purpose menu when you get to the donation page or drop a note with the donation on the forms).
In a way, yes. We’ve reached out to current donors by email. If you don’t see that information or have deleted the email, please contact us (membership@climbersforchrist.org) and we’ll work with you to get you set up as a member! And thank you for your prior and ongoing support!
Yes! To help us plan and to help you not have to remember one more thing, CFC annual memberships will automatically get charged at the same time each year and monthly memberships will get charged at the same time each month. If you get a new credit card, you’ll get a notice from us to update that.
No. Memberships ‘stick’ with the individual, but may be paused or canceled.
Yes, if for some reason you need to pause or cancel membership, please contact us at membership@climbersforchrist.org.
Yes! We recommend contacting membership@climbersforchrist.org to see if the person you’re thinking of is already a member first, but then it’s as simple as signing up in their name. Contact us with questions or if you’re looking for something tangible to give them for their membership.
Contact us at membership@climbersforchrist.org.
Contact us directly at membership@climbersforchrist.org and we’ll get you sorted out ASAP. As a reminder, t-shirts can take up to 8 weeks to be sent out and other member perks can take up to a month. If you don’t see your perks by then, shoot us an email.
Yes, minus the dollar value of the perks received (i.e. $27 for the t-shirt)
It does not. Those gifts are incredible and deeply appreciated, but they cannot be ‘dual-purpose’ in supporting both events/outreach and membership. There’s some legal jargon around it, but that’s the simplified answer for us lay folks.
Nope! Here’s what you need to know from our official bylaws on the matter: “CFC membership is a “Member-as-Donor” model, wherein individuals or entities who make the required annual financial contribution shall be recognized as members, receiving certain privileges as outlined in these bylaws, but without conferring any legal voting rights or governance responsibilities.” If you’d like more info on this, you can email our staff at info@climbersforchrist.org
