Social Media Volunteer
Summary:
Climbers for Christ (CFC) is a US-based, globally-connected ministry headquartered in Bend, Oregon. Founded in the Yosemite valley in 1989, CFC has fostered strong, decades-long relationships throughout the climbing community. The vision of CFC is to love and serve climbers so every climber and climbing community has the opportunity to experience and follow Jesus Christ.
The Social Media Volunteer will share CFC’s mission across channels by building and posting content that encourages the climbing community toward Jesus. This position will provide consistent and faith-filled encouragement to followers and will also be responsible for intentional engagement with the CFC audience through messages, comments, tags, and reshare requests.
Role Type & Commitment:
- Part time volunteer.
- 2-3 hours per week (Or as availability allows).
- Willing to commit to 6-month minimum volunteer term.
Reports To:
Social Media Manager
Required Qualifications:
- Agreement with CFC’s mission, vision, and approach to ministry.
- Clear and ongoing sense of calling to serve as a CFC volunteer.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, set and meet deadlines in a small non-profit work environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written and verbal), grammar, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-motivated and a proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms.
- Instagram & Facebook (Meta Suite)
- Working knowledge of editing platforms.
- Canva
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working or volunteering for a nonprofit.
- Experience with professional social media channels (nonprofit, business, etc).
- Working knowledge of project management software.
- Asana, Google Suite
Responsibilities:
- Create engaging, mission-aligned content for Instagram and Facebook in line with CFC’s guidelines.
- Post content on Instagram and Facebook 2-4x a week to keep our community informed and encouraged.
- Interact with comments, messages, and tags based on CFC guidelines to engage with followers.
- Manage reshare and collaboration requests to increase CFC’s presence.
- Brainstorm new content ideas and ways to build following.
- Keep track of content ideas in the Communications Calendar.
- Track performance metrics and recommend improvements.
- Attend check-ins with manager (monthly or as needed).
